2010 release from the underground Hip Hop favorite. Far from a melancholic work, Album Of The Year once again sees Black Milk working to break new ground in Hip Hop production, and to both refine and redefine his sound. While continuing to construct the skeletons of the tracks on his same trusted AKAI MPC-2000 XL that he’s been using for years, he now employs a team of studio musicians and session players to add new layers of fat and muscle to his songs, with most of the players’ parts composed by the artist himself. A broad range of influence shines through in the tracks, with tinges of Rock, Reggae, and Afro-Beat joining his trademark Hip Hop bangers.

When we started this about a year ago, living together in the same building, sharing the same passion for music, we were passing on links of the stuff we found online.It´s a bit like digging for wax – a lot of crap but then at the end of the box you find a beautiful piece of music.. So the next step was to share what you find on an bigger platform. While browsing the web and selecting everyday what stuff is worth promoting, we meet artists who catch our attention. we just wante more of their music. We invented this compilation as fans and asked our favorite underground producers to contribute.. We´re happy to deliver you a selection of mainly unreleased beats.

Mr Mool drops ‘Wax Rose Saturday’ from his well received ‘Skulltaste’ album backed with the exclusive ‘Valley Girls’ and remixes from Paul White, Free The Robots, Daso, Shigeto, and Devonwho. The title track sounds like a Prefuse 73 track circa ‘Vocal Studies’, while ‘Valley Girls’ is a more laidback display of R’n'B/IDM fusions. Attacking tracks from the album, Paul White gives a psych-spiked head nodders mix of ‘Wolf Tone Symphony’, while Devonwho gives a BoC-ish mix of ‘Lady Linda’ and Daso turns ‘Enceladus’ into a discofied electrohouse romp.

Kan Kick – Full-time Work, Part-time Pay

Kankick is a hip-hop producer from Oxnard, CA. The Kankick sound is dusty, crunchy and blunted, and just the right tempo to get the proper head nod going. He started out in the science of hip-hop beat making in 1988, as a freshman in high school when he hooked up with Madlib who was a sophomore at the time. Kankick later joined the Lootpack and became the 4th member. He has now split from them though and formed the Funk Farm, which also included DJ Babu (Dilated Peoples-Beat Junkies).
