Flying Lotus, (born Steven Ellison) is an experimental multi-genre music producer, disc jockey, and laptop musician from Winnetka, California. His debut album, 1983, was released on Plug Research Records in 2006. He is most famous (yet also uncredited) for much of the bumper music on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block, and he has also contributed remixes for fellow Plug Research artists, including Mia Doi Todd. His great-aunt is the late Alice Coltrane. He is affectionately referred to as FlyLo by fans and critics.

CunninLynguists are a hip hop trio from Lexington, Kentucky. The group currently consists of Deacon The Villain, Kno, and Natti.
Their debut LP, Will Rap for Food, was released in October 2001. Their second LP, SouthernUnderground, was independently released April 1, 2003 on Freshchest Records. Guests included Masta Ace, Supastition and others, with production from Domingo, RJD2 and Kno.
The group landed a distribution contract with Caroline Distribution in 2004, and Southernunderground was the first project re-released after inking the deal with Will Rap For Food being re-released shortly thereafter in 2005.
The group toured throughout the U.S., Canada in 2003, 2004 and 2005, appearing onstage alongside acts like Nappy Roots, Cee-Lo Green of Goodie Mob and touring extensively with People Under the Stairs, Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan and Brand Nubian.
CunninLynguists released their third LP, A Piece of Strange, worldwide on January 24, 2006 via Caroline Records and Groove Attack Distribution. It featured guest spots from Cee-Lo Green, Immortal Technique and Tonedeff and is entirely produced by Kno. The release of A Piece of Strange saw the profile for the group rise, as they toured abroad multiple times[1] in support of the release appearing live alongside such acts as Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, The Strokes and more.
CunninLynguists released their fourth LP, Dirty Acres on November 27, 2007 through a joint venture between their own label APOS Music and Swedish-based label Bad Taste Records. It features artists such as Devin the Dude, Phonte of Little Brother and Witchdoctor. CunninLynguists made their way across the United States, Europe and Canada in support of the album, headlining the Dirty Acres Tour in 3 parts over the course of 2008.
CunninLynguists have been covered in various media outlets including The Source, URB Magazine, Spin, XLR8R, Import Tuner, and The Onion. Their name is a play on the words cunnilingus, cunning, and linguistics.

Ben Lamdin’s creations range from heavy funk, to hip-hop based beats mixed with dusty old jazz, obscuro funk and psych bits and pieces.
Nostalgia 77 aka Ben Lamdin first burst onto the scene with his heavy, new funk based sound in 2002. In 2004 he moved away from the distinctive raw funk of his previous singles and he branched out to explore a more downtempo and jazz infused style. Nostalgia’s sound moved to hip-hop based beats fused with dusty old jazz; obscuro funk and psych bits and pieces, repolishing and rearranging them for modern day headphone junkies.
The success of this composition lead Ben to a style he describes as “a combination of soul and jazz composition with computer based production techniques”. Coming from producing hip hop style beats he had always heard snippets of jazz tracks he loved, so the fuller musical expression of actually making his own jazz music was inevitable.
His cover version of Seven Nation Army with Alice Russell has also helped bring his “Jazz Jihad” mission to a wider audience!
Aiming for an edgy sound whilst continuing to search for a more personal expression, Nostalgia 77’s influences include free and spiritual jazz as well as 60’s funk and soul and Afro sounds.
Nostalgia 77 can be booked as a DJ or as the full nine piece live band.

Curtis Cross, (born August 14, 1983) better known as Black Milk, is a hip hop producer and MC from Detroit, Michigan.
In 2004, he formed B.R. Gunna, with Young RJ, and Fat Ray, and together they released Dirty District: Vol. 2, a follow up to a compilation released in 2001 by Slum Village, which he had contributed production to. Black Milk released a solo album, Sound of the City, Vol. 1, the following year and in 2006 he signed a record contract with Fat Beats Records (Fat Beats is currently distributed by Koch Entertainment, the largest independent distributor in the U.S.). In the fall of 2006, he released an EP, entitled Broken Wax. March 13, 2007 he released a second album, Popular Demand.[1]
In addition to Slum Village, Black Milk has worked with the likes of J Dilla, Elzhi, Phat Kat, Frank-N-Dank, Lloyd Banks, Canibus, and Pharoahe Monch, and handled most of the production on T3’s Olio mixtape of 2006.
In the Winter of 2007/2008 Black Milk paired with Aftermath recording artist Bishop Lamont to release a mixtape entitled Caltroit, which was nominated for Best Hip Hop Mixtape at Justo’s Mixtape Awards.
Black Milk released an album with Fat Ray entitled The Set Up on March 4, 2008 and his third official solo release “Tronic” on October 28, 2008. He also handled the majority of production on Elzhi’s album The Preface, released August 12.
Elzhi’s “The Leftovers Unmixedtape” was released on December 11, 2009. Black Milk produced four of the tracks on it.
On December 25, 2009, he has leaked the first single from his forthcoming album Album Of The Year, the song is called “Keep Going”.

Jneiro Jarel (born Omar Gilyard) is a Philadelphia-based hip hop producer. Noted for his abstract style, he is also known for his beat-making alias Dr. Who Dat? and his group Shape of Broad Minds, who released both their debut EP and album on Lex Records in the summer of 2007.

Arnaud Bernard, better known as Onra, is a french hip-hop beatmaker based in Paris. He released his first album with other french producer and friend, Quetzal, in 2006. www.myspace.com/tribute2006 A Hip-Hop tribute to Soul music which was played several times by Gilles Peterson, Benji B and covered on Okayplayer.com.
At the same time, he started collaborating with american keyboard player called Byron The Aquarius and released an album under the name of The Big Payback in 2007, on japanese label Circulations. A project full of different influences such as futuristic hip-hop, spaced out beats and jazzy broken beat. They also appeared on highly praised compilations such as Beat Dimensions and New Worlds. In 2006, he went to Viet Nam for the first time, the land of his grand-parents, and managed to bring back some 30 chinese and vietnamese old vinyls. He then made a full album with this material called “Chinoiseries”. Currently his most critically acclaimed album, “Chinoiseries” became the trademark sound of Onra since the song “The Anthem” has been chosen to illustrates a Coca-Cola TV commercial for Beijing Olympics. In 2008, he has been selected to attend the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona. He is also part of the 7×7 series by irish label All City. His latest project called “1.0.8″ has got the Internet buzzing over once again, and had been elected as album of the week by many different shops across Europe.
He recently started touring with his two MPC1000 to play some beats live, and has already been performing in Japan, Spain, Scotland, England, Austria, New Zealand, Viet Nam, Switzerland, Netherlands and France. The Sound Providers Albums!

The Sound Providers are a Jazz rap duo formed by producers Jason Skills and Soulo. Formed in 1998 in San Diego, California, it originally included a third member, an MC named Profile, who left the group shortly before they were signed by ABB Records. The Sound Providers have produced a number of singles before releasing their debut album An Evening with The Sound Providers, recorded and produced in San Diego and Los Angeles, in 2004 on ABB Records. Without Profile The SP’s filled the void by bringing in a number of guest artists; Asheru, The Procussions, Wee Bee Foolish, Maspyke and Little Brother all made contributions to the album. Soulo, although fulfilling the role of DJ/producer, is known to occasionally spit on the mic. He only raps briefly on the debut, but rapped on a number of their earlier tracks.
In early 2006 they released another album entitled Looking Backwards: 2001 – 1998; which is a compilation of earlier songs made when Profile was still a member of the group. These songs were previously only available as 12″ singles. The album also includes a number of radio promos and other beats and songs which had never seen the light of day before.
In 2006 The SP’s remixed the Kero One track Give Thanks featuring Niamaj. The remix was released as a B-side to Kero One’s In All The Wrong Places single.
Jason now lives in Florida where he teaches advanced web development using Adobe Flash. In 2006 The Pro’s also completed a full length album with an emcee from Tampa, Florida named Surreal. The album is entitled True Indeed and the first single “Just gettin started” b/w “Place to be” was released in June of the same year. The full length album was released on 14 November 2006 on Quarternote/ABB Records.
The Sound Providers sound is predominately jazz orientated hip hop, though their work can consist of a much wider array of genres. Their style is a mix of socially conscious lyrics with new school rap beats, with samples taken from jazz, funk, and reggae. They have cited artists such as Gang Starr and the Native Tongues Posse as influences for their work. For more info check myspace.com/soundproviders.

Fat Jon the Ample Soul Physician (born on August 8th, 1969 as John Marshall) is an American hip hop producer from Cincinnati, Ohio and one of the four members of Five Deez, alongside Pase Rock, Sonic, and Kyle David. He is also credited with some of the music in the anime series Samurai Champloo. Unorthodox producer/rapper Fat Jon is not only the beat-maker for the underground hip-hop collective Five Deez but a member of the 3582 crew and a solo artist with a string of albums that flirt with electronica, downtempo, and dub sounds. Sometimes credited as Fat Jon the Ample Soul Physician, Jon started out as a rapper in his native Cincinnati. There weren’t many beat-makers on the local scene, so Jon learned how to make his own, working with a set of analog equipment that fit perfectly with his old school-loving, throwback style. ISWHAT?! started out in 1996 as a renegade hip-hop trio, focusing on live performances, but instead of only saluting rap pioneers, ISWHAT?! connects Hip-hop with free-jazz, rock and soul in a unique way. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the band was formed by vocalist/beatboxer Napoleon Maddox, saxophonist Jack Walker, and bassist Matthew Anderson. The group has shared the stage with performers ranging from KRS ONE to Archie Shepp to Antibalas, and released its first album, “Landmines” in 1999. The Cd “You Figure It Out” followed in 2003. In 2006, ISWHAT?! primarily consisted of NapoleonSolo and Sir Jac. Together they released the critically acclaimed Cd “The Life We Chose” though Matthew had some input as well as other guest musicians. By the end of 2006, Matthew Anderson departed from the group and the line-up expanded to include Joe Fonda on bass, Claire Daly on baritone sax and longtime ISWHAT?! contributor/associate Hamid Drake on drums. Around this time, the group also began to tour Europe, playing many of their big music festivals. ISWHAT?! developed a buzz as the group received numerous glowing reviews in major music magazines and airplay on many independent radio stations. The ISWHAT?! line-up became even more expansive due to the musicians heavy touring schedules. Other ISWHAT?! family members includes Chris Walker, Anthony Lee, Eddie Bayard, DJ Apryl Reign, Benjamin Sanz, Flip Barnes, Cocheme’a Gastelum, Brent Olds, Jeremy Cunningham, and Rashawn Murph. There are also very special guests such as Archie Shepp, Oliver Lake and Champion Battle DJ, (DJ SPS) from Orlando, Florida, whom all perform with ISWHAT?! on occasion. In 2008, Cocheme’a Gastelum became more involved in the group and Brent Olds (Killa-O), bass player and prolific composer moved from Chicago to Cincinnati to become an official member of ISWHAT?!. Brent proved invaluable to the group, as he is a tech savvy graphic designer. NapoleonSolo, Killa-O, and Sir Jac began to work together on video, visual art, and composing music in a new and exciting way, thus expanding the expression of ISWHAT?! to touch all realms of creativity.
