Samiyam – Rap Beats Vol.1

Extremely efficient and esoteric style that Samiyam has nailed on ‘Rap Beats Vol.1′ as he swiftly moves through 20 myriad-hued Wonky nuggets with a swaggering confidence. With the maximum track length at only 1:41min, we basically get to witness the genesis of each beat, introducing random samples from symphonic strings to wheezing accordians and woozy pianos over grubby fingered beat patterns, finding their feet with a bandy legged strut and once they’ve reached their stride, it’s time to sit down again. The whole concept and execution really sounds like very few others outside of his stable mates aside from maybe Madlib or Dilla meaning that anyone with an interest prime instro hiphop or Wonky needs to check in double fast. Highly Recommended!

Flying Lotus, (born Steven Ellison) is an experimental multi-genre music producer, disc jockey, and laptop musician from Winnetka, California. His debut album, 1983, was released on Plug Research Records in 2006. He is most famous (yet also uncredited) for much of the bumper music on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block, and he has also contributed remixes for fellow Plug Research artists, including Mia Doi Todd. His great-aunt is the late Alice Coltrane. He is affectionately referred to as FlyLo by fans and critics.

Arnaud Bernard, better known as Onra, is a french hip-hop beatmaker based in Paris. He released his first album with other french producer and friend, Quetzal, in 2006. www.myspace.com/tribute2006 A Hip-Hop tribute to Soul music which was played several times by Gilles Peterson, Benji B and covered on Okayplayer.com.
At the same time, he started collaborating with american keyboard player called Byron The Aquarius and released an album under the name of The Big Payback in 2007, on japanese label Circulations. A project full of different influences such as futuristic hip-hop, spaced out beats and jazzy broken beat. They also appeared on highly praised compilations such as Beat Dimensions and New Worlds. In 2006, he went to Viet Nam for the first time, the land of his grand-parents, and managed to bring back some 30 chinese and vietnamese old vinyls. He then made a full album with this material called “Chinoiseries”. Currently his most critically acclaimed album, “Chinoiseries” became the trademark sound of Onra since the song “The Anthem” has been chosen to illustrates a Coca-Cola TV commercial for Beijing Olympics. In 2008, he has been selected to attend the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona. He is also part of the 7×7 series by irish label All City. His latest project called “1.0.8″ has got the Internet buzzing over once again, and had been elected as album of the week by many different shops across Europe.
He recently started touring with his two MPC1000 to play some beats live, and has already been performing in Japan, Spain, Scotland, England, Austria, New Zealand, Viet Nam, Switzerland, Netherlands and France. Question: Question does not consider himself as a producer, but humbly more of a “beatsmith”. This Southern California native has been spinning hiphop since the early 90′s. His introduction to beat making started with an ASR-10. He then moved on to the MPC and has stuck to it ever since. It wasn’t until 2008 that Question decided to put his music together, defining his sound as an interpretation of a timeless era, purely fueled by Jazz, Soul & Funk. Future projects include an instrumental album with special guest Soulo of The Sound Providers.
Freddie Joachim: Making his home in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas, Freddie Joachim (pronounced: JO-AH-KIM), became a dj in the later part of 1996. Starting as a mobile dj and turntablist, Joachim has become a dj, who spins and listens to all genres, with a strong focus on jazz and hip hop.
With experimentation in early 2001, Joachim turned his focus to recording and production. Mainly a software-based producer, he respects the art of record collecting and sampling, working closely with other artists who share the same idea.
Freddie Joachim has produced for many big indie hip hop/soul artists.Last year he released his full length album in Japan, entitled, “In With Time”, which featured such artists as, Choice37, Surreal, Aloe Blacc, Blu, Profile, Othello, Muneshine and more.
