everybodydigs# is a series of posts about Jazz, Funk, Soul & R’n’b albums released from the 20s to the 90s, you can read a brief description/review and listen to a small preview (when it’s possible). everybodydigs# is like when someone tells you “hey you should listen to this album!” and nothing less, enjoy!

In The Land Of Hi-Fi album by Sarah Vaughan was released Apr 06, 1987 on the Emarcy label. In the Land of Hi-Fi is one of Sarah Vaughan’s best jazz dates for EmArcy. In The Land Of Hi-Fi music CDs Accompanied by an all-star orchestra arranged by Ernie Wilkins and featuring altoist Cannonball Adderley (who was near the beginning of his career), the great singer is in superior form during these concise (around three minutes apiece) performances, particularly on “Soon,” “Cherokee,” “I’ll Never Smile Again,” and “An Occasional Man.” A strong session. ~ Scott Yanow.

everybodydigs#1 Lou Donaldson – Lou Takes Off

The influence of Charlie Parker can be heard in virtually every modern jazz musician, particularly players of the alto saxophone. Although considered to be one of “Bird’s children,” Lou Donaldson absorbed and synthesized other pre-Parker influences, such as Johnny Hodges and Benny Carter. This recording marks a period in his development prior to a stylistic shift away from bop and toward a stronger rhythm and blues emphasis. Three up-tempo tunes are pure bebop; the remaining number is a medium blues in B flat, quite characteristic of the hard bop period. The front line on this set includes Donald Byrd and Curtis Fuller; the rhythm section is Sonny Clark, George Joyner, and Art Taylor. Overall, Lou Takes Off breaks no new musical ground, but it is a solid, swinging session of high-caliber playing.

Personnel: Lou Donaldson (alto saxophone); Donald Byrd (trumpet); George Joyner (bass); Sonny Clark (piano); Curtis Fuller (trombone); Art Taylor (drums).

Released just 2 weeks ago “Fiberglass Kissess” it’s already my favourite Freddie Joachim’s album because you get great beats and some beautiful tracks featuring some great voices, Miles Bonny, Mar, Carlitta Durand and J.Mitchell plus a good remix by Eric Lau. Perfect sound between Hip Hop, Soul, and Electronic so hey you should not miss this album!

Hey! This is RAPPAMELO

preamble: The whole thing was planned for early next year but but I decided to do it now.

null

yep. you’re not on the wrong blog…. this is Rappamelo.

let me explain:

I love to do the blog… really i do…. but…. too much stress in last 3-4 months so i decided that it was time to change.

What means CHANGE???

no more “links” that’s for sure (and if you liked rappamelo just because of the links you can close this page right now)

but: news, articles, mixes, free stuff and much more.

if you are thinking that all this is related to comments to the “famous” post… nope! they surely pushed me to do it right now but to be honest the whole process started back in August, i had some email exchange with “a guy” (i won’t say who he is but i love his art) that proposed me to be involved on his website on doing something like this….. then he made me thinking on doing this by myself.

no you don’t have to blame him or anyone else because it’s MY decision, my initial idea was “let’s finish this year and then move on” so it was just matter of time.

as you can see the blog right now is empty, the old one is currently running here > archive.rappamelo.com but it won’t stay online forever so be quick if you may have missed something.

Don’t like the new Rappamelo? hey… i don’t want to sound like an asshole but… you are free.

enjoy (if you want)

Francesco.
